Week 2 - Activities & Materials Needed
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THE WEEK
Week 2 Day 1
STICKER MATCHING
Materials Needed
- Paper
- Markers, Crayons or Pencil
- Set of Matching Stickers
What to Do
- Place stickers, randomly in columns on the right and left side, downwards on the paper.
- Have the child draw lines to match them.
PIPE CLEANER FUN
Materials Needed
- Pipe Cleaners
- Cardboard box or Colander
What to Do
- If using a cardboard box, poke lots of holes in the cardboard box, you can do it at random or in a fun pattern, letter or shape.
- Give child pipe cleaners, show them how to fit it inside a hole and have them fill all the holes!
Week 2 Day 2
MESS FREE FINGER PAINTING
Materials Needed
- Gallon Size Ziploc Bags
- Paints
- Poster Board or Card Stock
What to Do
- Cut poster board to fit just inside the bag
- Dot poster board with paints, place inside bag and seal
- Place on the table and your child can squish paint around with their fingers!
FIZZY COLORS
Materials Needed
- Foil Tray (or similar container)
- Baking Soda
- White Vinegar
- Ice Cube Trays
- Pipettes
- Food Coloring
- Gallon Size Ziploc Bags
What to Do
- Put a layer of baking soda filling the bottom of the tray
- Put vinegar in each ice cube tray spot
- Add food coloring to vinegar so that there are a variety of colors to use
- Use a pipette or medical syringe to place a few drops of the colored vinegar into the tray of baking soda
- Watch what happens!
Week 2 Day 3
BUTTERFLY SNACK
Materials Needed
- Pipe Cleaners
- Clothes Pins
- Snack Size Ziploc Bags
- Snacks (goldfish)
- Markers, Paints and/or Stickers
What to Do
- Have the kids decorate the clothes pins using markers, paint and/or stickers
- Fill snack bags half way with goldfish or other snack
- Wrap pipe cleaner around the middle of the plastic bag leaving equal lengths on either side as antennas.
- Place clothes pin over pipe cleaner
- Roll the ends of the pipe cleaners around a pen to shape them
OCEAN SENSORY BAG
Materials Needed
- Gallon Sized Ziploc Bag or Reusable food storage bags
- Clear Hair Gel
- Under the sea creatures
- Glass Gems (optional)
- Blue Food Coloring
- Duct Tape (optional)
What to Do
- Place sea creatures and gems inside bag
- Mix hair gel with a few drops of food coloring and add colored gel to the bag
- Remove air from the bag as you close it
- Optional: duct tape the top to keep it secure and keep your kids from opening it!
Week 2 Day 4
BAKE BROWNIES
Materials Needed
- Brownie Mix or your favorite brownie recipe ingredients
What to Do
- Bake Brownies according to box/recipe
SINK OR FLOAT
Materials Needed
- Sensory Bin
- Water
- Natural Materials (twigs, rocks, leaves, flowers)
What to Do
- Have the kids gather twigs, rocks, leaves, flowers, etc while you fill the sensory bin with water (good outside activity!)
- Let the kids guess whether each object will sink or float as they drop it in!
